Here are some of our best ideas for your day out in our lovely town of Northwich, starting from breakfast, all the way to the early hours of the next day.

Morning

Prepare yourself for the day ahead and indulge in a full English breakfast at Charlie’s Café. Alternatively, go and visit Jason and his team at Bruschetta for a home-cooked breakfast or pastry. For those of you that prefer a sweeter start to the day, treat yourself to a piece of cake!

Take a Walk

There’s nothing we love during our days out than taking a walk through one of the local parks. Verdin Park is the perfect spot for fresh air if you don’t want to venture too far out of the town centre. It’s perfect for families and dog walkers and is just a five minute walk from the main road. Take a break from the hustle and bustle in town, whilst still being just a stone’s throw away.

Carey Park is an enchanting woodland and nature reserve situated just a short walk from Northwich Town Centre. It’s an ideal destination for walkers and nature lovers alike, with superb views of Northwich and the surrounding areas. You can walk all the way from the Leicester Street entrance to the Anderton Boat Lift and from there, onto Marbury Park.

Marbury Park is great if you fancy a walk somewhere more rural. It’s perfect for those warmer and colder days alike. There are fantastic views onto the lake and it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular place to visit. Look out for the local wildlife and enjoy a great adventure through the forest paths.

Day Time Activities

Enjoy a ride on the boat lift and a trip down the river with friends and family at The Anderton Boat Lift on one of your days out! You can also enjoy a scenic stroll down by the river and experience the free interactive exhibition at the visitor centre. Stop off for a mid-morning snack and hot drink at the coffee shop to keep you going!

The Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse provides entertainment for both adults and kids. The town’s stories are told through films, reconstructions, models and displays. It’s great for a cheap day out!

Visiting The Lion Salt Works is like stepping into a time capsule. Prepare to be ‘wowed’ by the ‘subsiding house’, theatrical lighting and sound and film. The giant clouds of steam that were once produced by the site’s huge salt-boiling pans take you back in time. There’s also a café, gift shop, butterfly garden, play area and canal towpath.

We suggest a visit to Northwich Library if you would prefer to stay in town. Let your imagination unfold between the pages of a huge selection of books. Look out for regular author and literary events also on their website. This is the perfect morning for all of you book lovers out there.

Afternoon Bites

There’s nothing we love more after a busy morning than relaxing in a quaint courtyard feasting on freshly baked scones, jam and cream and a hot pot of tea at Poppy Rose Tearoom and Vintage Furnishings. Enjoy browsing the unique gifts, vintage crockery and collectables whilst you’re here.

If a hot lunch is what you need then Kanya Bistro is the perfect destination for your days out and about. It’s a great place to go to whether you’re hanging out with your friends or taking the whole family out for lunch.
