‘From Judy to Bette: The Stars of Old Hollywood ’ a tale of trailblazing Hollywood stars, plays on Thursday 29 November at Northwich’s Weaver Hall Museum

November 29, 2018 @ 7:30 pm

Judy to Bette The Stars of Old Hollywood

On Thursday 29 November at 7.30pm, ‘From Judy to Bette: The Stars of Old Hollywood’ will be performed at Northwich’s atmospheric Weaver Hall Museum. The dazzling solo play by critically-acclaimed creator and performer, Rebecca Perry chronicles the heady life and times of all-time Hollywood greats – Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Betty Hutton and Lucille Ball. The show is part of the Cheshire Rural Touring Arts Autumn season and parking is free. Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased at the Museum’s reception desk or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/cheshireruraltouringarts

The play is about the four trailblazing stars from the Golden Age of cinema who saw their own value before anyone else did and fought and broke convention to play the roles that made them famous and infamous. It is an evening of marvelous melodies and scandalous headlines in which Rebecca Perry beautifully inhabits her extraordinary characters.

Councillor Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member Communities and Wellbeing, Cheshire West & Chester Council said: “Rebecca Perry wrote and performed the Edinburgh Festival sell-out  play ‘Adventures of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl’ which performed to great acclaim at the Lion Salt Works Museum in 2016. It sounds like this play will be just as successful and promises to be glamorous, high-energy and thought-provoking.”

Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse is full of displays and tales of the history and industry of West Cheshire. The stories are told through films, reconstructions, models and vivid displays of intriguing artefacts, which relate to local industry, market towns, transport, archaeology and the building’s former history. The museum is housed within the old Northwich Union Workhouse building built at the start of Queen Victoria’s reign. The Museum offers year-round activities as well as a vibrant schools programme. In 2018, the Museum won the Sandford Award for teaching excellence.
