Northwich has been named as the 5th best destination in the UK to visit for people who are looking for a safe and socially-distanced break this summer.

The findings come from the team at money.co.uk who have compiled a 2020 Safecation Report on the back of more and more people planning a holiday in the UK because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The report looked at a number of different criteria to compile the list of locations, including the number of parks and available greenspace, free activities, contactless payment availability, dog friendliness and the number of beaches that are within a 50km radius.

Also taken into account was the number of caravan parks and camping sites within a 50km radius, the crime rate in April 2020, visitors per year to the county, car parking charges and park entry fees.

With all of this data combined Northwich emerged 5th on the list, putting it ahead of the likes of Windsor, Sevenoaks and even historic Durham.

Northwich BID Manager Jane Hough has welcomed the findings of the report and also commented on how the town centre is ready to support visitors who come to the area this summer.

“It is fantastic to see Northwich 5th on this list but it’s not a surprise when you think of all the great attractions and beauty spots that are on the town’s doorstep.

“The area is great for families, walkers, cyclists and day-trippers alike as there are so many brilliant places to enjoy a day out right here in Mid Cheshire.

“Visitors to Northwich this summer will also find a welcoming and safe town centre to enjoy some shopping, food and drinks. Our businesses have worked so hard to reopen and are following the government guidelines very closely to ensure customers can feel confident and secure.

“For people who are thinking about coming to Northwich on the back of this report the town would love to see you, so come and check it out for yourself!”
