The first week of the Northwich Festival of Arts is set to end on a high with Northwich Scooter Day returning to the town centre on Sunday 7th July.

Running from 1:00pm till late, the event has been organised by Derek Smith from Derek’s Window Cleaning and will take place next to Retros Music Bar on the High Street.

There will be music from a range of genres including Motown, Northern Soul, Ska, Mod, Two Tone, Skinhead and Reggae, while The Tall Faces will provide live entertainment.

Plenty of food and drink will be on offer alongside face painting and stallholders, and crowds can look forward to tunes throughout the day courtesy of DJs.

Look out for Vinnies Cakes and Shakes too who will be in attendance selling a variety of tasty treats including burritos, nachos and milkshakes.

One of the highlights of the day however will come later in the afternoon as main event organiser Derek Smith has explained.

“This year we are running a bit of a competition which is being sponsored by Northwich’s Vinnies Cakes and Shakes,” said Derek.

“There will be prizes for the best Lambretta, the best Vespa and also the best pimped Scooter and I’m really looking forward to all of the different bikes that will be in attendance.

“When you see a big group of different bikes all together it really is a sight to see so I would urge any motorbike and scooter lovers to come along and take a look.”

The Scooter Day is one of a number of large scale events taking place during the Northwich Festival of Arts which includes the Northwich Carnival, the Northwich River Festival and Northwich Art Shop’s Grand Day Out at the Memorial Court.

The Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) are the lead organisers of the Festival and BID Manager Jane Hough has urged people from the town and beyond to come and check out the many events and activities that are taking place throughout July.

“There is so much going on that everyone is bound to find something that interests them! There’s sculpture, painting, poetry, music, art, creative writing, photography, animation and much more.

“Northwich and the wider Mid Cheshire area is packed with so much creativity and ingenuity and the Northwich Festival of Arts showcases it. Don’t miss out!”
