Northwich based Susan Howarth & Co Solicitors have been shortlisted for a prestigious Family Law award.

They are one of five companies in the running for the Family Law Firm of the Year (North) category of the Lexis Nexis Family Law Awards 2020 and will now have to wait until Wednesday 25th November to see if they have won via an innovative virtual awards ceremony.

The Family Law Awards are a suite of highly prestigious accolades that recognise the important work of family lawyers, and celebrate their many successes and outstanding achievements.

The shortlist and winners are chosen by a judging panel made up of the heads of the Family Law Bar Association, Resolution, The Association of Lawyers for Children and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, along with Family Law editors and publishing executives.

Criteria which the judging panel will take into consideration when selecting the winner include external nominations and testimonials, the quality of legal services offered and the range of expertise within the firm, amongst others.

Understandably the company was thrilled when they heard the news and Director Susan Howarth has revealed how everyone reacted when they found out that the firm had been shortlisted.

“We were elated and proud,” said Susan. “To have the work we do, the approach we take, the service we deliver and the standards we achieve recognised as comparable to that of reputable bigger city centre law firms is a real achievement.

“All the other shortlisted practices are significantly bigger than we are; they’re all multi-office firms with 2-3 times the number of partners and staff. Receiving the news that we’d been shortlisted for the award was like a silver lining to the Covid cloud for us.”

Susan then went to describe what it would mean to the company if they were to be successful on awards night.

“Since the practice was founded, it has been driven by an ethos and a belief that everyone has the right to access justice, irrespective of means or social class,” commented Susan. “Simultaneously, we have striven to deliver the highest quality of client care and practice management to all clients.

“Winning the award would prove that regardless of practice size, structure, location or profitability, with the right ethos, determination and commitment, it’s possible to both achieve and maintain your goals.”

Susan’s attentions then turned to the practice’s wider aims and objectives for the coming months.

“We are incredibly proud to be known as a highly-regarded niche family practice and we fully intend to maintain this reputation. Moving forwards, we are looking to further extend this reputation throughout the practice with the aim of being recognised for our excellence across all service areas.”
